MECC visit Secretariat for Economy & Finance and Economic Services

The Macau European Chamber of Commerce (MECC) which was founded by six European chambers of commerce in Macau, namely of France, Germany, Ireland, Portugal, Romania and the United Kingdom, its representatives have visited Macau Secretariat for Economy and Finance as well as Economic Services. They were received by Secretary Francis Tam Pak Yuen and Director Sou Tim Peng. During the visits, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MECC Franklin Willemyns thanked for MSAR’s support to MECC and introduced the aim of the Chamber is to promote friendly cooperation between Macau and the European business communities, thereby helping diversify Macau’s economy. Willemyns also introduced the key board members of the Chamber and explained the upcoming activities of MECC such as the participation in 2014 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (MIECF) and The 19th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF). Secretary Tam has shared the future development of Macau and affirmed the role of MECC being the commercial and communication platform of the European countries in Macau. Secretary Tam has also expressed that MSAR is very supportive to the Chamber and asked the Chamber to communicate with them when they need the support from the government. Director Sou welcomed the set-up of MECC and explained the services which the Bureau can provide to the Chamber.

MECC representatives attending the visit included President of the Board of Directors Franklin Willemyns, Executive Vice-President Tony Un, Secretary Filipe Cunha Santos, Vice Presidents Niall Murray, Lino Ho, Pedro Cardoso and Treasurer Andrew Evans and Vice President of the Supervisory Board Carlos Duque Simoes.
