Macau, September 2, 2020
The Macau European Chamber of Commerce (MECC), the first affiliation of European chambers in the Macau SAR, dedicated to promote economic ties between Macau and Europe, paid a visit to the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic in the China in Macao SAR.
The objective of the visit by the MECC to the Commissioner’s Office is to maintain a closer and friendly relationship between both Ministry and the Chamber.
During the meeting, MECC expressed the interests and difficulties amongst European businesses in Macao during the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic; polices and recommendations for diversification of Macau economy; opportunities for local entrepreneurs to start expanding their businesses to the Greater Bay Area and the role of Macau within the GBA and the future development of this vital project .
The Commissioner’s Office have also encouraged MECC to visit the MSAR Government and present these issues and to support a diversified economy in the city by building connections with different sectors.
The visit was made by the President of the Board of Directors, Mr. Carlos Duque Simões; Executive Vice-President, Mr. Tony Un Chong San, Vice-Presidents – Mr. Bernie Leong, Mr. Carlos Alvares and Mr. Henry Brockman, Treasurer – Mr. Andrew Evans; Vice-President of the Supervisory Board – Prof. Kevin Thompson, Secretary – Mr. Filipe Santos and Secretary of the General Assembly – Mr. Rutger Verschuren.
