Macau European Chamber of Commerce announces new President and appointments of the Governing Bodies for 2019-2021
The Macau European Chamber of Commerce (“MECC” or the “Chamber”) today announced at the Annual General Assembly Meeting election of
Mr. Carlos Duque Simões as President of its Board of Directors for the term 2019 to 2021.
Mr. Simões is a partner of DSL Lawyers and will succeed Professor Kevin Thompson of the University of Macau, who has led the Chamber from 2017 to 2019.
“We are delighted to have Carlos to assume the presidency of the Board of Directors and continue to steer an optimal course in bringing together European and Macau business interests and across the Greater Bay,” Professor Thompson said.
Speaking about his new role, Mr. Simões stated, “I am very honored by the trust of the MECC members and will take this mandate as a new challenge. I will keep MECC involved in supporting European businesses and companies in Macau and in the Greater Bay Area.”
Professor Thompson will take a new role as Vice President of the Supervisory Board of MECC, of which Mr. Chui Sai Cheong is President, and Mr. Filipe Cunha Santos is appointed Secretary.
Other appointments of MECC’s Governing Bodies include two new members to the Board of Directors, namely Mr. Henry Brockman and Mr. Liky Ng, who are appointed Vice President and Secretary respectively. Mr. Carlos Alvares is promoted to Vice President, while Mr. Niall Murray, Mr. Lino Ho, and Mr. Bernie Leong remain as Vice Presidents. Mr. Tony Un and Mr. Andrew Evans stay as Executive Vice President and Treasurer, respectively.
Ms. Bolormaa Ganbold is appointed as the new President of the General Assembly. Mr. Jeffrey Ho and Mr. Rutger Verschuren are appointed Vice President and Secretary of the Assembly respectively.
